Mezze Feast

IMG_3782Mezze is the elaborate spread of appetizers and salads which precedes the main course in a traditional Middle eastern meal. Rife with vegetables, beans, peas, fish and sometimes seafood prepared in the most delicious and creative ways, it is often a meal in itself. This is the best time of year to share the delicious aromas, the fabulous spices and herbs and the native ingredients so common in my country. Each one of the 15 dishes I will share with you can be a mains salad, a light lunch or a side dish at dinner. Aubergines – so often incorrectly cooked – will be the star of the show, next to sumac, cumin and baharat. A feast to the eye and the palate served with an extra dose of Middle Eastern hospitality.
